1/2 Day whitewater

Our 1/2 Day whitewater trip is by far our most popular attraction, putting in right below SKQ Dam this trip runs just under 8 river miles. Running through 4 consistent Class II and III rapids and several other smaller features, our Buffalo rapid section hosts the warmest, biggest, and safest whitewater in Western Montana. Our guides are trained to the highest standards for water safety as well as the natural history of the area. On this trip we offer two different kinds of rafts pictured above, the “Paddle” raft is a lot more interactive and usually considered the more fun of our two options. Every guest gets their own paddle and is essentially the motor for the raft while the guide sits in back and steers while giving commands. The “Oar” raft is the less involved of our two options, guests sit and hold on tight while the guide navigates the rapids from a center mounted oar frame. Our trips start off with an instructional period going over river safety and paddling instruction before getting into the rapids. This rapid section is what’s called a “Drop Pool” section meaning after each rapid there is ample time to recover and relax before the next rapid starts.
